The Coldstones Cut is a dramatic, free-to-visit, man-made viewing platform and sculpture overlooking the stunning Nidderdale landscape. Situated just outside Pateley Bridge in the Yorkshire Dales, it’s accessible by a variety of transport options:

On Foot

For those who enjoy walking, The Coldstones Cut is reachable via scenic public footpaths from Pateley Bridge. From the town centre, follow signposted routes through Greenhow, taking in the spectacular countryside. Please wear appropriate footwear and be prepared for an uphill climb.

By Cycle

Cyclists can enjoy a challenging but rewarding ride up to The Coldstones Cut via Greenhow Hill. Be aware the route is steep and includes narrow sections. Cycle racks are available near the entrance. Please do not cycle beyond the designated parking area.

By Car

The Coldstones Cut is located off the B6265, just past Greenhow village when travelling from Pateley Bridge. Free parking is available in the lay-by at the base of the site. From the car park, it’s a short walk uphill to the sculpture.

By Public Transport

You can reach The Coldstones Cut using a combination of bus and walking. Regular buses run to Pateley Bridge from Harrogate. From there, it’s approximately 2.5 miles uphill to the site.

Access

The Coldstones Cut is situated 2 miles out of Pateley Bridge on the B6265 between Pateley Bridge and Skipton.

Free parking is provided at the Toft Gate Lime Kiln car park, from which the footpath climbs 40 metres over 500 metres to reach the sculpture.

Suitable footwear and clothing should be worn as the location is exposed to the elements and the weather can be harsh and change suddenly.

In exceptional circumstances, alternative access can be arranged in advance via the Quarry Office site by telephoning 01423 711356 (Monday-Friday only).

There is limited internet connection within the sculpture.
